Electron Lattice Interaction and Lattice Instability of 1T-TiSe_2

Lattice instability of 17'-Tide. is studied on the basis of the electronic bandstructure of this compound obtaizted by a tight-biuading fit to the Zunger auadFreeman's batad. The electronic susceptibility, for which the wave number depend-ence of electron-lattice matrix elements is taken iuato account, is calculated forseveral phonon modes of wave vectors at the M anxcl L points in the Brillouinzone. The results are discussed in cozanection with the lattice instability.
