Theory of Nuclear Magnetic Relaxation in KCoF_3 Having Residual Orbital Moment

In KCoF. magnon-phonon interaction is expected to be strong owing to theresidual orbital moments of the Co" tons, and it plays an important role inthe nuclear spin-lattice relaxation. A new mechanism of the nuclear spin-latticerelaxation of the fluorine nuclear spins in KCoF. is presented. Second-orderrelaxation processes involving magnon-phonon interaction are derived by treatingas perturbation the magnon-phonon interaction and the hyperfine interactionbetween fluorine nuclear spins and cobaltous ions. The second-order one-magnon-one-phonon process proves to make a dominant contribution to the nuclearspin-lattice relaxation.
