[[ectrostatic drift waves driven bv a Gaussian densitv rrofile in a sheet plasmaof thickness of the order of the ton Larmor radius p, have been studied numeri-cally. The frequency range considered is less than the ion cyclotron frequencyco.,. The method is based on an integral equation iut wavenumber space derivedfrom the Vlasov-Poisson systenr of equations and on the direct computation ofthe integral eqttation. Eigenfrequencies and ejgenfuroctions are studied systema-tically by varying the plasma thickness, the transverse wavenumber and theparallel wavenumber. Unique features for the case of the ideal sheet plasma, whosethickness is equal to p, are disclosed, whereas the usual drift waves have beenfound for the case when the plasma thickness is as I?trge as [0077..
