Effects of toroidal geometry on the particle diffusion of a turbulent plasma areconsidered. Using the fluid-like equations obtained by appropriate average ofthe Klimontovich equation, vve derived a formula for the diffusion flux acrossmagnetic surface. The formttla is applicable to both turbulent and quiescentplasmas, and reproduces the Pfirsch-Schlfiter diffusion in the latter case. Thegeometrical effect on the turbulent diffusion is fotmd to become substantial whenthe ratio of the antisymmetric to symmetric part (with respect to the wavenumberparallel to the magnetic field) of the dissipative part of the susceptibility exceedssome critical value. As a specific example, we treat the case of drift wave turbu-lence. It is shown that the geometrical effect is insignificant tmless the perpendicularwavelength is sufficiently large as compared with the ion Larmor radius.
