Critical Current Measurements in Type I Superconducting Lead Foils by Shadow Electron Microscopy

The critical current density Of lead foils carrying a transport current parallel tothe Iaycrs in laminar structure has been measured by observation of flux domainmotion. The pinning force density F, is estimated by using the critical statemodel. The F, obeys the scaling law; F,=H'.(T)h(1 -h)'(S,/d-FB,), whereH.(T), h and d are the critical magnetic field, the reduced magnetic field and thespecimen thickness, respectively; .S'., B., are material constants. The temperatureand reduced magnetic field dependences of ff. are discussed in comparison witha model in which the interaction between dislocation lines and superconducting-normal domain walls is assumed.
