Both the superconducting-spot and the normal-spot models for the interrnediatestate have been developed by using the results of generalized Landau's model.Comparison of free energies of the two spot-models and of a laminar model showsthat near the transition field to the normal state the superconducting-spot structureis the most favorable. The critical field of a thin plate which agrees with the expres-sion of Maloney et at. have been obtained. The distance between normal spots isgiven as a function of a reduced field and a ratio of the surface energy param-eter to thickness of a superconducting plate.
