A giant cubic anisotropy was observed in the magnetic torque measurementof ZnCr.Se. single crystals above T., doped with Mn in the order of 1 'II/l,. No suchanisotropy was found in pure ZnCr.Se.. Shape and magnitude of the anisotropycould not be interpreted by the fine structure of isolated Mn" ions. Cr" spinclusters around Mn impurities seem to be the origin of the anisotropy, thoughthe mechanism is not clear.
