Phase Transitions at High Temperature in Intercalation Compounds Mn_<1/4>NbS_2 and Mn_<1/4>TaS_2

Phase transitions in intercalation compounds IVIn.,NbSx and lVIn.TaSz (r:1/4 and 1/3) havebeen investigated at high-temperattrre region trsing a magnetic balance and an X-ray difTractozneter. In lVInj 7,jNbSz, the discontinuous changes of the magnetic strsceptibility and the latticeparameter c are observed at 640 K. In lVIn) ,zjTaSx, sinailar discontintrities are observed at 670K. From the ternperattrre dependence of the stuperlattice reflections, it has been found thatthese discontintrities are manifestation of the strtrcttrral phase transition associated with theorder-disorder of the intercalated lVIn atotaus and the displaceraaent of the Nb, Ta and S atouns.
