Partial Structure Factor of Amorphous Cu_<0.57>Zr_<0.43> Alloy Determined by TOF Pulsed Neutron Diffraction

The partial structure factors S....(Q), S....(Q) and S..,?..(Q) are determinedconsistently from the three total structure factors .5(Q) for amorphous Cug..7'Z,r....alloys with natural Cu, isotope Cu" and Cu", which wercc observed by meansof TOF pulsed neutron diffraction. The reduced partial radial distribution func-tions Gjj(r) arc also obtained by Fourier transforms of .5,(Q). The first peaks ofG(...(r), G....(r) and G....(r) appear at r=2.65, 2.80 and 3.15A, respectively.The second peaks of both S,j(Q) and Gjj(r) split into lx,vo subpeaks. This isinterpreted as a consequence of tetrahedral close packing in amorphous alloys.
