γ-Ray Compton Profiles of Lithium and Sodium in the Liquid and Solid State

The Compton profiles of lithium and sodium in both liquid and solid stateshave been measured using 59.54-keV y-rays from 1Ci"'Am. A clear difference ofthe Compton profile between the liquid and solid states has been found in lithiumand sodium, respectively. The experimental Compton profiles corrected forthe multiple scattering are compared with various theoretical profiles of theseelements in both liquid and solid states.
