Mossbauer Study of the Low Temperature Phase of Magnetite (Fe_3O_4)

M6ssbauer spectra of the low tenxperature phase of single crystal magnetite(Fe.0.) have been measured with changing the direction of the applied magneticfield with respect to the crystal axes. Data were analyzed taking into accountthe relative orientation of the hyperfine magnetic field to the principal axes of theelectric field gradient tensor. Consequently details of the electric field gradient ofone B site ion were clarified.
