• The contribution of the three-body force coming from pion-nucleon scattering process to the binding energy is examined in the triton and the alpha particle. The effective strength of the three-body force is reexamined and determined to be 0.45 MeV. The expectation values of the three-body force are about - 1.3 MeV in the triton and about - 10 MeV in the alpha particle. The ratio between the expectation values is rather large and it is almost unchanged by introducing pionic form factors to the three-body force. Moreover, the favorable effect of the three-body force on the r. m. s. radius is investigated.
