Higher Derivative Gravity in Generalized Covariant Derivative Formalism

Under a torsion-free condition which determines the spin connection in terms of the vierbein, the 1-loop-renormalizable and asymptotically-free theory of higher derivative gravity, i.e., R-R^2-R_<μν>R^<μν> gravity, is recovered in a field theory in which a unified field strength is defined for the Higgs field as well as for the U(1) gauge and SO(1, 3) gravity fields.
