Σ-Hypernuclear States in ^<208>Pb : Nuclear Physics

Σ-hypernuclear states produced by (K^-, π^+) reaction on target ^<208>Pb are investigated. Strong interaction potential between Σ^- and the core nucleus has a peculiar repulsive bump near the nuclear surface. Classification of Σ-hypernuclear states into nuclear state (N), hybrid state (H) and atomic state (A) is also proposed. It is found that a hybrid state with high angular momentum l=5 has a reasonably narrow width and is bound deeply enough to be experimentally observable.
