Results derived from the prescription, introduced by Kumar and Pati to evaluate amplitudes of nonleptonic hyperon decays, are reexamined. Contrary to the conclusion of Kumar and Pati, in the case H^<weak>=J_α^+J_α with |ΔI|=1/2 one finds a rather poor agreement of the prediction with the experimental data on the S- and P-wave hyperon-decay amplitudes. If we take H_<weak>=g_s・S^<(6)>+g_p・P^<(7)> and g_s/g_p=-(1.3~1.6) in the fundamental triplet model with S^<(6)>≡t^^-λ_6t and P^<(7)>≡it^^-λ_7γ_5t, one can find a fairly good agreement of the prediction with experiment except for S(Σ_+^+). In this case, F/D-ratios of the strong meson-baryon interaction (ξ) and of the effective bilinear parity-conserving coupling among baryons (ξ_ω^c) are respectively (0.61~0.66) and -(1.1~0.8), where the F/D-ratio of the parity-violating bilinear coupling is assumed to be nearly equal to ξ; Iarge values of S(Σ_+^+) are obtained, because of the very large adjusted magnitude of the parity-violating spurion as compared with the value adopted by Kumar and Pati.
