We analyze πN → πΔ_δ production based upon the SU(6) ⊗ O(3) structure of N and Δ_δ in the symmetric quark model. On the assumption of additivity and factorizability, we investigate the general properties of N →Δ_ δ transition mechanism by a single quark transition. We calculate the differential cross section of the Δ(1236) production in the forward region at high energies and its Δ(1236) spin density matrix. The results agree fairly well with experimental data although there is a difference by a factor ≲2 between the results and data in the forward region at -t ≲0.2. We also predict the both quantities of the Δ(1950) production.
