Charmed Meson Mass Splitting in a Universal Confining Potential Model

We assume that the confining potential is spin and flavor independent and that the anomalous chromomagnetic moment exists in the short-range gluon exchange potential. This model, referred to as Universal Confining Potential Model, was shown previously to fit the charmonium spin structure successfully. In the present paper, the mass splitting of charmed mesons is argued by the same model, being referred to those of charmonium and ordinary mesons. A quantitative prediction is that the charmed ^3L_J multiplets are normal-ordered.
