Eigenchannels and Unitary Separation of Background Parts in Regge-Pole Theory

It is shown that in multichannel scattering, background parts can be separated from a Regge-pole term in such a way that the background parts are unitary for any energy and for any angular momentum. To show this we needed to prove some theorems concerning the analytic continuation of amplitudes into the complex angular-momentum plane, factorizability of the Regge residue, analyticity of the eigenchannel S-matrix, and analyticity of the diagonalization matrix of the amplitudes.
