The O(4) Symmetry and the Effects of Particle Mixing

In terms of the O(4) symmetry, the strong decay of φ→p_π,KK^^- and the weak decay of Ξ→Λ_π,Λ→_<π> N are studied by taking into account the particle mixing arising from a contribution of the symmetry breaking interaction. A selection rule on G′-parity, (parity for a new kind of an extended charge conjugation) is successfully applied to the strong decay of mesons 1^- and 2^+. The observed decay modes of the G′-parity-violating transitions are attributed to the effects of the symmetry breaking interaction and the particle mixing.
