Carcinogenic effect of radiations with different quality was assessed in female (C57BL/6N x C3H/He) Fl mice given either 2.7 Gy of f ission neutrons from a ^<252>cf source of ^<60>Co gamm-rays, or a single i.p. injection (2.8 × 10^8,equivalent to 2.7 Gy) of HTO. A prominent carcinogenic effect of fission neutrons was shown; tumors were developed with a shorter latency, higher frequency, wider spectrum of the target tissue and higher tumor multiplicity in individual animals as compared with those of HTO beta-rays or ^<60>Co gamma-rays. The RBE in carcinogenicity of HTO doesn't exceed much gamma-rays in the dose range employed in the present study.
