Anomalous X-ray scattering experiments were performed at Fe-$K$ edge with hexagonal Z-type barium ferrite samples Ba3Co2-xFe24+xO41 ($x=0$, 0.2 and 0.4) in order to study distributions of iron and cobalt atoms over ten crystallographically different sites in the structure. The results were consistent with those determined by the neutron diffraction technique combined with the Rietveld analysis and with those by extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EAXFS) analyses.
