Electronic Characterization of New Bright-Blue-Light-Emitting Poly(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-End Capped With Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxanes

We performed the spectral and cyclic voltammetry measurements of the new blue-light-emitting polymer poly(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl) (PDOFO) end capped with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS). From the oxidation and reduction potentials are determined, the estimated ionization potential $I_{\text{p}}=5.73$ eV and electron affinity $E_{\text{a}}=2.2$ eV were obtained. The luminescent properties of thin films and electroluminescent devices on their base were investigated. The devices on a PDOFO–POSS base showed a pure blue emission with a maximum of 423 nm. The green emission characteristic of PFO-based films and organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) was suppressed by end capping the PFO backbone with POSS.
