• The crystal structures of monoclinic and triclinic forms of [Pt(<I>R</I>-pn)<SUB>2</SUB>]Cl<SUB>2</SUB>·2H<SUB>2</SUB>O have been determined from diffractometer data. Despite the difference in crystal systems, the complex cations in the two kinds of crystals have essentially the same structure. The disposition of the CH<SUB>3</SUB> groups is <I>trans</I>. One of the chelate rings is of the λ conformation, with an equatorial CH<SUB>3</SUB> group, while the other has the δ conformation, with an axial CH<SUB>3</SUB> group.
