The crystal structure of a 1:2 complex of bis(methylthio)dithiapyrene and tetrahydrobarreleno–TCNQ contained face-to-face packings of acceptor–donor–acceptor units which are isolated from each other. The IR spectrum, geometry, and absorption spectrum showed the neutral nature of this complex.
