The structure of physalin M, isolated from <I>Physalis alkekengi</I> var. <I>francheti</I> was determined as 7-deoxyphysalin L by spectroscopic studies and chemica correlation with a known compound. Physalin M exhibitec weak cytotoxicity against tumor cells.
