P-42 Characteristics and microstructure of porous Ti-5Nb-5Mo alloy for biomedical applications

In our previous study, we developed a Ti-5Nb-5Mo alloy with a higher strength/modulus ratio for biomedical application. In the present study, we fabricated a porous Ti-5Nb-5Mo alloy was fabricated using a space-holder sintering method and investigated the compressive strengths and moduli of all the sintered porous Ti-5Nb-5Mo. Not only do the mechanical properties of the porous alloy match the basic mechanical property requirement of cortical bones, but alkali-heat treatment was used to enhance the bioactivity of the porous alloy surface. As a result, the porous Ti-5Nb-5Mo alloy has potential as a bone substitute.
