In the present study, a series of Ti-5Mo-xCr alloys were designed and evaluated for dental applications. The experimental results indicated that the α"-phase Ti-5Mo-1Cr alloy had the lowest bending modulus (77 GPa). Also, the Ti-5Mo-1Cr exhibited better bending strength (1801 MPa) and the highest elastic recovery angle (26.6°). In the current search for better dental implant materials, the low modulus, ductile property, excellent elastic recovery capability and reasonably high strength (or high strength/modulus ratio) α"-phase Ti-5Mo-1Cr alloy seems to be a promising candidates.
