In the present work, ordered nanotube arrays on Ti-7.5Mo surfaces were fabricated by anodization at 10 V in NH_4F/NaCl electrolyte. which was then annealed at 450℃ for 3 h for using as a control group. The alkali treatment with 0.5 or 5 M NaOH solutions at 60℃ for 1 min makes the anodized Ti-7.5Mo more bioactive with a formation nanoscale network porous structure. It is expected that the formation of apatite on the anodized and then NaOH- and heat-treated Ti-7.5Mo surface can be further accelerated, even in the living body, and bond to living bone through this apatite layer. The preliminary cell culturing results revealed that the anodized and then NaOH- and heat-treated Ti-7.5Mo alloys were not only biocompatible, but supported cell adhesion as well.
