Ferroelectric and Magnetic Properties of PrFeO_3-PbTiO_3 and PrFeO_3-BiFeO_3-PbTiO_3 Thin Films

• Thin film materials of new solid solution systems have been explored for attaining ferroelectromagnetic property by combining antiferromagnetic and ferroelectric end members such as BiFeO_3, PrFeO_3, and PbTiO_3. Thin films of the 0.35PrFeO_3-0.65PbTiO_3 and the 0.2PrFeO_3-O_2BiFeO_3-0.6PbTiO_3 doped by x mol% Ta_2O_5 (x = 0, 0.75 and 1.5) have been prepared by spinning on PtITiISiO_2ISi substrate and annealing at 550℃ for 30 mm. Crystal structures, microstructures, P-F hysteresis curves and M-H hysteresis curves were characterized. The O_35PrFeO_3-0.65PbTiO_3 and the O_2PrFeO_3-0.2BiFeO_3-O.6PbTiO_3 thin films showed weak ferromagnetism. The Ta_2O_5 -doping improved ferroelectromagnetic property. The 0.2PrFeO_3-0.2BiFeO_3-O.6PbTiO_3 thin film doped by 1.5 mol% Ta_2O_5 showed ferroelectromagnetic properties, spontaneous magnetization (M_s) of 0.1 emulg and the remanent polarization (P_r) of 1.67 μC/cm^2.
