Comments on the Hidden Order in Phase IV of Ce_xLa_<1-x>B_6(Condensed matter: electronic structure and electrical, magnetic, and optical properties)

We have studied the effect of the O_<xy>-antiferro-quadrupole (AFQ), T_<xyz>-antiferro-octupole (AFO), and AF exchange interactions on the Γ_<5u>-AFO order, which is a strong candidate of the order in phase IV of Ce_xLa_<1-x>B_6, by mean field calculation for the two-sublattice model. The magnetic phase diagram obtained by the calculation seems to reproduce those of Ce_xLa_<1-x>B_6, which seems to provide some clues to understanding phase IV. However, a peak of the magnetic susceptibility disappears easily after introducing the O_<xy>-AFQ interaction, which is because the O_<xy>-FQ order that accompanies the Γ_<5u>-AFO order is easily suppressed by the O_<xy>-AFQ interaction. The present work indicates that in order to understand the physics of Ce_xLa_<1-x>B_6, further studies are necessary both experimentally and theoretically.
