Thermal Conductivity of a Heavy Fermion Superconductor UPd_2Al_3 Single Crystal

• We have sttndied the thermal condtrctivity tc and electrical resistivity p of UPd3Al3 singlecrystal in the temperattmre range between 0.36 K and 70 K in magnetic fields up to 5 T. At hightemperatures, the thermal condtuctivity is dominated by phonons. Below the Neel temperatureT? = 14.5 K, tc shows an enhancement conapared with the extrapolated behavior from the highertemperature than Ty, which is associated with the steep decrease of p. This suggests the increaseof the electron contribution to tc below 'Z'N due to the decrease of the magnetic scattering. Thetemperature dependence of r. does not show an anomaly at T. and shows a T' behavior below1 K, which stmggests that the superconducting gap in UPdzAla vanishes along lines on the Ferrnisurface. n in magnetic field shows clearly a larger decrease below T. than above T. with decreasingteznperature, which is very different frorn the temperature dependence of tc in zero magnetic field.
