Unusual Magnetic Properties of the D+AF and M+AF Phases in CuCe_<1-x>Si_xO_3

The thertnal expansion, specific heat and nta'tgnetization of CtrGe)-.Si.O3 haxze been sttrdied.Althotrgh the lNeel tenaperattrre 'Z"N of the D -3- AF phase, where the antif'erromagnetic (AF)phase coexists with the dinaerized (71)) one, is proportional to x Lip to 0.02 in H : O as inCu) .Zn.Ge03, Tg of the 11,i -p AF phase, xvhere the AF phase coexists with the magnetic (Al)one ?tbox'e 10 T, strddenly increases with x between x = 0.005 and 0.008. The AF propertiesin the D -f- AF phase ?rre qtrite LIIILISLIOI in contrast with the nortmal ones in the AF state forx :' 0.02. This is becsttrse the AF properties in the D * AF phase are largely influenced by theexistence of' dinaerization as a backgrotrnd, wlaich exists below T3 p, and the qtrantuna effect playsan iumportant role in this phetuorneuaon.
