The microstructure and magnetic properties of in-situ ordered FePt films grown on Cr and CrW underlayers were investigated. The FePt films that deposited on preheated Cr underlayer show (200) texture. Adding appropriate W element in Cr underlayer make the texture of FePt layer transform from (200) to (001). A good FePt (001) texture and suitable coercivity were obtained on the Cr_<85>W_<15> underlayer with a substrate temperature of 400℃. The coercivity of FePt thin films on CrW underlayer is higher than that on Cr underlayer and increases with increasing W content in the Cr underlayer because the formation of the CrW alloy inhibits the diffusion between FePt and CrW layer.
