We report a case of blood boils of the maxillary sinus. The patient, a 70-year-old man, presented with a chief complaint of bleeding in the left superior gum. A CT scan showed a mass, which occupied the left maxillary sinus and caused destruction of bone walls. Moreover, there was communication between the left maxillary sinus and the left superior gum, and inferior nasal meatus in the left nasal cavity. Although a malignant tumor was suspected from these findings at the first medical examination, the condition was diagnosed as blood boils of the maxillary sinus by means of a histopathological examination. This disorder is rather rare. However, when symptoms suggest a maxillary carcinoma, the possibility of a blood boil should be kept in mind, before a definite histopathological diagnosis is made.
