New Ultrasonic Level Gauge Using Standing Waves of Bending Modes

A new ultrasonic level gauge using standing waves of bending modes has been developed. This level gauge is based on the variation of the resonance frequencies of a waveguide rod immersed in the water. In this paper, the principle and the fundamental experiments are reviewed, and the feasibility of the new ultrasonic level gauge is demonstrated.
