Temperature Dependence of Zero Offset of Piezoelectric-Ceramic Cylinder Vibratory Gyroscope

In this paper, we describe a piezoelectric-ceramic cylinder vibratory gyroscope with interdigital electrodes. Increasingly stable gyroscopes have been required as direction sensors of car navigation systems. The temperature dependence of zero offset is one of the most important characteristics of such gyroscopes. We proposed an expression for the temperature dependence of zero offset using an equivalent circuit analysis. The temperature dependence of zero offset is derived by using the relationship between vibratory imbalances and temperature dependence of the mechanical quality factor Q_m of the piezoelectric-ceramic material. The Validity of this expression was empirically proved. By reducing the temperature dependence of the piezoelectric material, we could decrease the temperature dependence of zero offset of the vibratory gyroscope.
