Optimization of Shell Implosion Driven by Black Body Radiation

We have studied a spherical ablative shell implosion under an assumption of a constant mass ablation rate. It is found that implosion dynamics is determined only by one parameter. The theory is applied to a shell implosion driven by a steady black body radiation and compared with computer simulations. We have estimated scaling laws of optimum aspect ratio and shell radius on the radiation intensity I_R, which lead to the maximum hydrodynamic efficiency, as R_0/ΔR_∝I^<1/2>_R and R__0∝I^<1/6>_R.
