Ablation of a plasma by thermal radiation is investigated within a framework of the diffusion approximation for the radiative transfer. The ablation pressure, mass ablation rate and hydrodynamic efficiency are obtained as functions of radiation intensity. The results show great improvement over laser driven ablation.
