Noise in Non-Linear Resistors

A more general formula is derived for noise evaluation in non-linear resistors. We here apply it to two aspects of the SCL diode; the thermal noise in a low electric field and the hot carrier noise in a high electric field. The result shows that the noise increases in proportion to the square root of the conducting current in the low field and to the 5/3 power of the current in the high field. These results arc confirmed experimentally in laboratory-made SCL diodes.
