Effects of the photoperiod on growth of the bamboo grass, Pleioblastus variegatus

Seedlings of bamboo grass. Pleioblastus variegatus, were grown under different photoperiods. Under short day, internode elongation was greatly inhibited; also the number of shoots per plant and leaf chlorophyll content were greatly increased. Light-break treatment completely nullified the short-day effect.
