106 strains of wine yeasts isolated from grape musts, particularly pseudofilm-forming strains, were studied from taxonomic point. They were identified according to the LODDER and VAN-RIJ system as follows : [table]A few morphological differences were found between pseudofilm-forming strains and film-lacking ones. In the former the streak cultures were generally dull and rough, and protuberances resembling conjugation tubes were formed in the sporulating cells, but in the latter the cultures were shiny and smooth, and their cells formed no protuberances in the sporulation.The pseudofilm-forming strains formed a pellicle on YEA in 2〜3 days and the cells in it had a tendency to become round and larger and to aggregate in chains.
