A freeze-dried enzyme preparation from the crude extract of a koji-culture of Trichodderm viride B1A, which shows high cell wall-lytic activity, converted 80% of Trichoderma reesei QM 9414 conidia to protoplasts on incubation at 40℃ for 6 h. The resultant protoplasts were suitable for protoplast fusion.
