Propagation of a soliton in a weakly dissipative Toda lattice is analyzed by themethod of conservation law. In this analysis, a strong connection between theToda lattice and the K-dV equation is emphasized. The damping of a solitonobtained in the present method agrees well with the numerical solution of adissipative Toda lattice.
