We present a theoretical model f'or CaV3O7: the 174-depleted sqvtare spin-172 Heisenlcerg rnodelwhich includes both the nearest-neighbor cotrpling (.7) and the next-nearest-neighbor coupling(.z'), where J and J' are antiferromagnetic. Recent investigations on netrtron diffraction byHarashina et at. rexzealed the occurrence of' magnetic ordering at low temperattrres, which maybe called a stripe phase. It is shown that the observed spin structure is not stable according tothe classical theory. By employing the utaodified spin wave theory, we show that the stripe phaseis stabilized by the quantum fltrctuations f'or J'/J >0.69. In C2l.V3O7, J and J' are estimatedto be nearly eqtral throughottt coznparison of the theoretical and experimental results.
