The energ5z loss distribtrtions of laeaxzy tons (Z< 8) xvith higlu etaergies (2 IVIeV/u -50 lVIeV/u) itatlaick silicon detectors with ttnif'orraa thicl<raess have beeta naeastrred ita a xvide rat?ge of f'ractiotaalenergy loss, 2xE/Eg, 'u'bere AE is the etaergy loss atad Eg is the initial energy of' incident tons.Tlae meatstrred distribtrtions of energetic He, Li, Be, B and C Tons are in good agreenaent xviththose predicted frouaa Livingston-Bethe's tl?eory wlaen AE/Eg< 0,2. However, tlae distribtntiotasfor large fractional energy losses AE/Eg >0.2, xvhich are ITLLICII xvider thata tlaose expected f'rottatlae tlaeory, are approxiuaaately expressed I'oy Stoqtrert's uaaetlaod corasidering the effect of velocitydecrease into Livingston-Betl'ne's theory. In tlae previotms experiuaaent of the energy loss of heavyTons frotn K to Fe in thick 81 detectors, Hasebe et at. obtairaed corasistent restrlts ['or heaxzierelernents. By conbiraing tlae restrlts ita the jcr'eviotrs arud this works, it is concltrded that thestraggling in energy loss of heaxzy hens fi'orn proton to Fe xvitla energies f'rouaa abotut 5 lN4eV/tr toa few htrndred IVIeV/tr in thick Si-absorber is explairaed by Stoquert's utaethod.
