Spectral Functions of One-Dimensional Electron Systems with Ising-Like Spin Gap

The effect of a spin gap on the photoernission spectral f'ttnctions is sttrdied in the one-dinaensional t-Jyyz rnodel. We find that spinon bands shoxv Lip in the spectral functions btrtholon bands are obscured in the spin-gap cases. Tlue reason for this is studied trsing a simpleinterpretation of the spectral f'trnctions, wlaich is 21 convoltrtion betw'een the spectral ftrnction of'spitaless fertaaions and a spin excitation xveiglat Z(Q). Tlae spin gap sttppresses the singtrlarity ofZ(Q), and 218 a result, only the holon bands are obsctrred. It is also shown that the spinon pettkslie along a cosine band and extend over the region k >kp. Finally, the uaaouaaenttrm-dependentcritical exporaents of the power-law singtrlarity at the spinota batads are deternained.
