Autoionization electron emission spectra coexisting with the .A#..,-VV Auger line byX-ray excitation are discussed theoretically. The pr<:sent study is motivated by an experiment of Brener et al. (Phys . Rev. B37 (1987) 1387) on metallic Ti, V and Cr by theuse of X-rays of TiAcc(4.511 keV) and AlAcc(1.487 keV), wher'e autoionization elec-iron emission spectra coexisting with the .M..,-VV line are possible only when the X-rays are TiAcv. By a model irx which autoionization electron emission spectra aregenerated by the scattering of X-rays, while M.,.-'sl'V spectra are generated by a reso-nant electron emission followirug the X-ray absorption, the increase of autoionizationemission relative to w..,-vv spectra with increasing energies of the incident X-rays isobtained for metallic Ti, in agreement qualitatively vvith the corresponding experimen-tal result of Brener et al.[autoionization,-lj Kronig 'pro- ll cess,lAuger effect, electron emission, X-ray scattering, super Cosiertransutuon, A#,.,-VV spectra, metallic Ti, X-ray absor?ttion, resonanttheory
