Exponents in the Theory of the Soft X-Ray Threshold Anomaly of Heavy Alkali Metals

• The threshold exponents cx(, of anomalous soft X-ray absorption spectra of heavyalkali metals in the theory of I'Jozieres and De Dominicis are calculated. Special atten-lion is paid on Cs where the value of cv. is obtained experimentally as 0.06 -0.07which is considerably smaller than cr. for K and Rb. By a projvosed model for Cs thatthe localized 4f orbital is pulled in by the 5p hole that is created by absorption of softX-rays, resulting in the screening of the 5p hole, we obtained the value of cx. to be0.05, in agreement qualitatively with the experimental results.
