The stability of one parameter family of isoscc+les triangular cell flows representedby the stream function c)=sin y (cos y-F-cos cc.v) is investigated. The periodicity ofthese flows in two directions permits us to employ Floquet theory to investigate theinstability characteristics. The critical Reynold:; number is given by long- or intermediate-wave disturbances depending on the parameter cc. Even in the formercase, the strearn function of the disturbance does not necessarily converge to a con-slant function in the long-wave limit, in contrast to the other cases studied before.Floquet theory, linear stability, two-dimensional periodic system, cellular flow
