Nonlinear Meissner Effect in Double Layered High-Tc Cuprates Investigated by Measurement of the Penetration Depth

The in-plane London penetration depth A.5 was investigated as a function of magnetic fieldH in YBazCuaO., BizSrzCaCuz0. and TlxBaxCaCuxO.. A.a changes linearly with H at lowtemperatures, with an almost temperature independent gradient. Below a crossover field H',the ff-linear A changes into an H behavior. The crossover from H to H', the magnitudeand temperature dependence of H', and the ternperature dependence of the gradient of the H'term around zero field are all consistent with the nonlinear Meissner effect in unconventionalsuperconductors. The results of these studies suggest that the order pararneter of' the doublelayered cuprates has nodes in k space.
